Boating accident on White River Tuesday leaves one dead, one injured

A boating accident on the White River Tuesday afternoon has left one person dead and one injured. According to Keith Stephens, Chief of Communications for the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission, 77-year-old Carol Sellers died at Baxter Health in Mountain Home Wednesday morning. Her husband, 77-year-old Hugh A. Sellers, is still a patient at Baxter Health. Both are from Lexington, Oklahoma.

Stephens says according to the preliminary investigation, the two had rented a boat from Bull Shoals State park and were going down the river when they hit a downed tree between the park and Gaston’s Resort. Carol Sellers was unresponsive after the accident and CPR was performed.

Stephens says the couple had been married for 60 years.

He says the accident, which happened about 4:15 Tuesday afternoon, is still under investigation.
