Beloit City Council approves sale of 13 acres to Blackhawk Transport

BELOIT, Wis. (WTVO) — The Beloit City Council approved the sale of 13 acres in Gateway Business Park to Blackhawk Transport during a meeting Monday night.

The company specializes in providing trucking services, fleet replacement and logistics consulting.

Blackhawk plans to build a 10,000 square foot office building and an 11,000 square foot truck service building at 2001 Gateway Boulevard.

The city will receive $65,000 for the property when the sale closes sometime this spring. Beloit will also receive $200,000 in grant reimbursements for site preparation and a property tax rebate for 10 years under the condition that Blackhawk adds six full-time positions by 2036.

“The City of Beloit is thrilled to keep a home-grown company here in Beloit,” said Drew
Pennington, economic development director. “We look forward to seeing Blackhawk Transport
expand and provide additional jobs in our community.”

The development needs to be completed within a year and a half, according to the City of Beloit.
