Police: Man punches victim near Jumpin’ Joe’s, causing skull fracture

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — Rockford Police arrested Sam Jackson III, 36, for punching a man in the face, knocking him unconscious and causing a brain bleed, according to court records.

On March 11, around 5 p.m., the victim was seen talking to Jackson in front of Jumpin Joe’s on West State.

Surveillance footage showed Jackson punching the man, which resulted in him losing consciousness and hitting his head on the sidewalk.

The man was taken to Swedish American Hospital’s Intensive Care Unit after ambulances arrived. He sustained a fractured skull and a brain bleed, according to court records.

After an investigation, Authorities determined Jackson was the suspect.

He was taken into custody and booked into the Winnebago County Jail on April 23rd.

Jackson is charged with aggravated battery causing bodily harm and aggravated battery in a public place.
