Daniel Romero, 37, is also charged for his alleged involvement in the altercation. He is currently wanted for a separate battery incident that happened last year.
On August 25, 2024, officers were called to the 3700 block of Florida Drive for reports of a battery incident. The victim told authorities she was invited to a house party after meeting Mora-Valdez at a bar earlier in the day.
Romero put a five dollar bill in the victim’s shirt when she arrived, so she confronted him, court documents showed. The woman told officials that Romero escalated the situation by punching her in the face, causing her to fall to the ground.
Mora-Valdez joined Romero in attacking the victim, police reported. The woman was eventually able to leave the house but was punched in the back of the head by Mora-Valdez while trying to get into her car, according to court records.
The victim was taken to UW Health for her injuries. Hospital records showed her nose bone was fractured on both sides.
Mora-Valdez is charged with aggravated battery causing great bodily harm, aggravated battery while in a public place and mob action.
Romero is charged with aggravated battery causing great bodily harm and mob action.
Mora-Valdez was booked into the Winnebago County Jail on March 27th and was granted pretrial release the same day.
Romero has yet to be taken into custody.
