Parents are invited to Shreveport’s newest play area for children with disabilites

SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS)—A nonprofit organization in Shreveport is inviting parents to a family-friendly event for children with disabilities.

Nonprofit organization, The Arc Caddo-Bossier, is partnering with We Rock the Spectrum-Shreveport to host its Sidewalk Shindig event. We Rock the Spectrum is an autism-focused, indoor playground and kids gym that provides children with fun activities and a sensory-safe environment. The Arc is a similar program that has provided services for more than 70 years to individuals with disabilities and their families.

“This gym is a game-changer for families in our community,” said Kristen Powers, Executive Director for The Arc Caddo-Bossier. “We’re excited to spotlight a space where every child is celebrated and included—values that perfectly align with our mission.” In addition to the indoor playground, families will also be able to enjoy free outdoor activities, including games, hands-on art, a cake walk, swag giveaways, and a petting zoo provided by Farm Ranch Zoo. Johnny’s Pizza will also be on site.

A portion of all admissions will benefit the Arc Caddo-Bossier. Sidwalk Shindig will be held on Sunday, May 4, at We Rock The Spectrum from noon to 4:00 p.m.
