Man dies after early morning shooting in Lawrence

LAWRENCE, Ind. – A man died in an early morning shooting in Lawrence.

Police were dispatched before 3:30 a.m. to a reported shooting in the 4500 block of Vernon Avenue.

Officers found a man suffering from gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene. A person was detained for questioning in connection with the incident.

Police said there was no ongoing threat to the community. The circumstances surrounding the shooting remain under investigation.
