Police: Argument over loud music led to deadly shooting in Lawrence

LAWRENCE, Ind. – A man died following a Tuesday morning shooting that police believe stemmed from an argument over loud music in a Lawrence neighborhood.

According to the Lawrence Police Department, officers were dispatched just before 5:30 a.m. to the 9000 block of Kingsboro Court for a reported shooting.

Officers found a man lying in the street after suffering a single gunshot wound. The Lawrence Fire Department also arrived at the scene, provided emergency medical aid and transported him to an area hospital.

Police initially indicated the man was in critical condition. He later died from his injuries.

Neighbors said the shooting stemmed from an argument. Lawrence police indicated their initial investigation found a dispute between neighbors over loud music prompted the shooting.

Police initially said one individual had been detained in connection with the investigation. In a later update, they indicated no one had been arrested.

The Marion County Prosecutor’s Office will review the case for a charging decision. The shooting remains under investigation.
