The blaze started around 4 a.m. Wednesday in the 5500 block of West Crystal in the Austin neighborhood. The roof of the garage has collapsed.
Residents say the fire started in the alley, possibly trash cans, then spread to the garage.
The detached garage belongs to two apartments and residents made it out safely.
Chicago fire officials have confirmed that a firefighter was critically injured fighting this garage fire and transported to Stroger Hospital.
