Amazon to add 1,000 new jobs in Marshall County, state says

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Amazon is building a new facility in Marshall County, adding 1,000 new jobs in Mississippi, according to the Mississippi Development Authority.

Amazon plans to build a 930,000-square-foot facility in Chickasaw Trails Industrial Park in Byhalia, locating inbound cross-dock operations there.

They will receive and consolidate products from vendors, and Amazon will then ship the products to the surrounding fulfillment centers within its network.

Amazon said the new facility will help it serve customers in Marshall County and surrounding areas.

The company expects to complete the new facility and add the jobs over the next three years.

“Amazon’s global presence is undeniable, and the company’s continued investment in Mississippi speaks volumes about our ability to quickly and effectively meet the needs of its massive consumer base,” Gov. Tate Reeves said in a news release.

Amazon already has operations in Marshall County, where in 2018, the company announced a consumer goods fulfillment center.

Months later, in 2019, the company announced another facility opening in Olive Branch, Mississippi, creating 500 new jobs.

“Amazon has been a great business partner to Marshall County over the years, and we appreciate their investment and job creation within our community,” Marshall County Board of Supervisors President Charles Terry said in a news release.
