The Housing Authority of Shreveport is working with Housing and Urban Development to assist the relocation of 32 families from the Northwood II Apartments. The tenants will receive protection vouchers to help with moving efforts.
“Although our resources are limited, the Housing Authority of the City of Shreveport is committed to our mission of expanding the availability of quality housing that is affordable for all families,” said Bobby Collins, Chief Executive Officer of HACS.
The City of Shreveport cut off the water at the Northwood II Apartments in February after the landlords failed to pay thousands of owed bills and remained without an agreement with the city.
Collins said, “These Tenant Protection Vouchers are a critical tool in providing immediate, stable housing for families displaced through no fault of their own. HACS will continue to coordinate closely with HUD and community partners to ensure a smooth and supportive transition for each household impacted.”
