Video of the attack provided by witnesses shows two people standing on the corner of Market and Castro Streets in San Francisco around 5:53 p.m., when a man in red approaches them and sucker-punches a man to the ground.
San Francisco Police Department officers responded to the scene and arrested 34-year-old Andrew Davais in connection to the attack.
“Officers arrived on scene and located a victim being treated by paramedics,” SFPD told KRON4. “… Through the course of the investigation, officers were advised that the victim was assaulted by the suspect unprovoked.”
Witnesses of the crime said that the victim suffered serious injuries from the attack. However, police said that the man’s injuries were not life-threatening.
Davais was booked into the San Francisco County Jail for two counts of aggravated assault, probation violation and parole violation. The case remains under investigation.
