Suspect in custody for murder of 25-year-old in Mount Morris

MOUNT MORRIS, Ill. (WTVO) — A 25-year-old Mount Morris man is dead, and a 44-year-old suspect is in custody for his murder, after a shooting Monday afternoon.

Ogle County Sheriff’s deputies were called to an apartment at 1 South Ogle in response to a “domestic incident” around 4:59 p.m. and found Cameron Pasley suffering from multiple gunshot wounds at the residence.

He was taken to Saint Katherine Hospital in Dixon, and was later pronounced deceased, police said.

The suspect, Derek Swanlund, was located by law enforcement a short distance from the crime scene.

Swanlund has been charged with First Degree Murder and was booked into the Ogle County Jail.
