Changes proposed to Pennsylvania gas pumps

HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) — Proposed legislation would put new labels on all gas pumps in Pennsylvania.

The labels would detail the federal and state tax rates on gasoline and diesel fuel.

Sponsors of the legislation say consumers have a right to know how much of their money is going to the gas tax with every gallon they purchase.

The total tax we pay on gas in the Commonwealth is 77 cents a gallon. Only California and Illinois have higher gas taxes.
