According to the Freeport Police Department, officers were called to Cub Foods, at 1512 S West Avenue, at 3:19 p.m. Monday for a report of a pedestrian that had been hit.
The 54-year-old driver of the pickup, a man from Lena, remained on the scene.
Police said the woman was hit as she was exiting the store, and the driver of the truck failed to yield.
The woman was taken to FHN Hospital and then later transferred to another hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
The crash is under investigation, police said.
