3 killed, 2 injured in Sunflower County crash

SUNFLOWER COUNTY, Miss. (WJTV) – Three people were killed and two others were injured during a two-vehicle crash in Sunflower County.

The crash occurred on Highway 8 around 10:30 p.m. on Sunday, April 20.

According to the Mississippi Highway Patrol (MHP), a 2010 Ford F-150 was traveling west in the eastbound lane on the highway when it collided with a 2023 Toyota Camry that was traveling east on the highway.

Troopers said the driver of the Ford, JD White, 66, and his wife, Renee White, 57, both of Cleveland, received fatal injuries from the crash. They were pronounced deceased at the scene.

Another passenger in the Ford, Sharon Sample, 53, of Cleveland, also died in the crash. The fourth passenger in the Ford, Kerman Coleman, 68, of Cleveland, was transported to a hospital for treatment.

The driver of the Toyota, John Ballard, 36, of Ruleville, was also transported to a hospital for treatment.

The crash remains under investigation by MHP.
