MADISON COUNTY, Miss. (WJTV) – A Madison man pled guilty to two counts of possession of child exploitation material.

Attorney General Lynn Fitch (R-Miss.) said the case against Britton Butler was initiated from several Cybertips and was investigated and prosecuted by her office.

“My office will continue to hold those who exploit and prey on Mississippi’s children accountable,” said Fitch. “Together, we can make Mississippi a safer place for everyone. But we need your help. If you suspect a child is being exploited or abused, please report it to my office. Your tip could save a life.”

On April 16, Madison County Circuit Court Judge Dewey Arthur sentenced Butler to 40 years in the custody of the Mississippi Department of Corrections (MDOC) with eight years to serve day for day without the possibility of parole and five years of supervised probation.

Butler will also have to register as a sex offender upon release.
