You could name the soon-to-be largest Fresno County public library: This is how

FRESNO COUNTY, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – Have you ever wanted to name a public library after yourself? Fresno County officials announced a new opportunity to make that wish happen for two libraries – one of them expected to be the biggest in the public library system.

Fresno County officials announced they are looking for major sponsors for the soon-to-be-constructed Clovis and Reedley libraries. To be a sponsor, residents have to bid a certain amount of money in exchange for naming a County building. This is called “Naming Rights” and will be done under a Naming Rights Agreement.

The Board of Supervisors approved this informal bidding procedure back on Jan. 28. County officials say the highest bidder will be awarded the Naming Rights Agreement through a competitive bid process and will be able to name the exterior of the library after themselves, their business, family, organization or after someone who they might want to honor for up to 50 years.

Per officials, the process will be divided into three phases, which are the pre-bid phase, the bidding phase, and the award phase. For the bidding phase, the county requires a minimum bid amount of at least 10% of the county’s total estimated project cost – the Clovis Library, expected to be the largest in the Fresno County Public Library System, is estimated to cost around $25.7 million and the Reedley Library is estimated to cost around $14.1 million.
