Police dog assists Fairfield police in detaining suspects who brandished firearm in mall

(KRON) — A K-9 officer assisted Fairfield police in detaining two suspects who allegedly brandished a firearm in a mall. According to the Fairfield Police Department, officers were dispatched to the Solano Mall at 3:44 p.m. Tuesday on a report of someone in a car brandishing a handgun at another person.

Officers arrived and located the suspect vehicle in the lower level of the Macy’s parking lot. Police said a witness told them they’d seen three suspects, including one with the firearm, fleeing towards Macy’s just before officers arrived.

Officers converged on the mall and found two of the three suspects. One of those detained, a teenage boy, was identified by the victim as the person with the firearm.

K-9 officer Drako and Fairfield PD officer Brightwell conducted an article search and found a discarded BB gun in the path of the suspect’s flight.

The 17-year-old suspect was cited and released to his parents. Further disposition is pendiing, according to police.
