Exiting spring storm cools us off Easter weekend

SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) — Happy Easter weekend, Utah! An exiting spring storm will leave us a bit cooler to start the weekend with a northwest flow in place, but we will see more sunshine today with high pressure briefly rebounding.

Expect daytime highs to climb into the mid to upper 50s along the Wasatch Front and into the central part of the state. Highs will slowly rebound in southern Utah with a range of 50s and low 60s in the region, with St. George wanting to climb to the upper 60s, which is still below average for this time of year. Our ridge will allow for clear conditions so more sunshine is expected Saturday.

Heading into Easter Sunday, a weak disturbance will bring in increasing cloud cover overnight as temperatures rebound closer to seasonal norms. Northern Utah is expected to remain about five degrees below seasonal norms for the holiday but will still be pleasant with temperatures in the upper 60s expected along the Wasatch Front. Average highs are expected in St. George with a bit more sunshine than the north and mid 70s on deck.

As we head later into Sunday and early Monday morning, a weak front will move through northern Utah and bring the chance of some isolated showers. Temperatures won’t be greatly impacted, but a drop of a few degrees is expected. Weather model runs have shifted back and forth on the timing, but it appears snow showers for the higher terrain should be expected Sunday evening into Monday morning with the snow level right around 7,000 ft. As for valleys, scattered rain showers are expected and those could start as early as the late evening on Easter Sunday and keep Monday unsettled and slightly cooler for the northern half of the state.

Tuesday looks quieter but the midweek has some precipitation potential, so stay tuned! Stay informed with 4Warn Weather forecast both on-air and online, we are Good4Utah!
