The suspect was arrested on Friday, April 11, after the Scurry County Sheriff’s Office received a report of theft from the Kinder Morgan site. Police say that Deputy Randy Romero was working with representatives from Kinder Morgan to gather evidence that led to the suspect’s arrest.
The Scurry County Sheriff’s Office stated they’re gathering more evidence and anticipate additional arrests in the upcoming weeks.
Police have noticed an increase in oilfield thefts, which is partly due to the rising value of precious metals, which tempts people into committing these crimes.
The Scurry County Sheriff’s Office would like to remind residents that all these types of theft are considered felonies, regardless of their weight or value. If you have any information about this theft or a similar incident, please contact Deputy Randy Romero at (325) 573-3551.
