New Roads Police: Grandmother arrested in connection to child murder

BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — The News Roads Police Department arrested a woman who was accused of being connected to the death of a baby.

According to NRPD, Tremika Lashel Butler, 41, was arrested on charges of indecent behavior with juveniles and cruelty to juveniles. She is the mother of Ke’iondra Butler.

Ke’iondra was arrested and booked on charges of second-degree murder and obstruction of justice. Her bond was set at $550,000.

On April 14, officers responded to a home on Pennsylvania Street after a report of an unresponsive baby boy. The child was taken to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

No further details were immediately available.

“This case has deeply affected our community, and we are committed to seeking justice for those involved with the utmost care,” said Sergeant Stacy Paul of New Roads Police.
