Man hospitalized after shooting in Merced

MERCED, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – A man was hospitalized after being shot in Merced Wednesday afternoon, the Merced Police Department said.

Officers say they responded to the area of Morning Dove Avenue and Brightday Drive after receiving a report of a gunshot wound victim around 3:30 p.m.

On scene, police say a man was suffering from non-life-threatening injuries to his leg and upper torso. He was transported to a nearby hospital and is reportedly in stable condition.

The circumstances that led up to the shooting have not been released, but according to officers, it does not appear to be a random incident.
