According to officials from the Cook County Sheriff’s Office, 24-year-old Christian Harper, a Bellwood resident, has been charged with one count of aggravated battery to a peace officer and one count of aggravated battery to a nurse.
Deputies said the charges were handed down after Harper allegedly struck a nurse and kicked a police officer as they attempted to restrain him in the emergency room at Loyola Hospital in Maywood.
Deputies initially responded to a call for assistance at the emergency room, but when they arrived, they learned that two people had allegedly been attacked.
Deputies said they then learned that Harper had allegedly punched a nurse in the face twice and kicked a Maywood officer in the face as they attempted to restrain him.
After arriving on the scene, deputies were able to take Harper into custody without incident.
Currently, it is unclear why the employees were working to restrain Harper and authorities said nobody else was injured during the incident.
