Family accused of killing man, dumping his body on bridge plead not guilty

BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First News) — Court records show all four family members charged in the killing of a man whose body was found on the Huey P. Long Bridge have pleaded not guilty.

The body of Gerard Nicholas Richard, 41,

was discovered around 7 p.m. Feb. 13. His body was described by deputies as “mangled,” with his wrists bound by rope and tape, and wrapped in a blanket. Authorities said he was dumped on the bridge and struck by multiple passing vehicles.

Court records show Da’Sean Conley, 17, and Darius Conley, 33, have been indicted on charges of second-degree murder and obstruction of justice.

According to arrest records, Da’Sean had an ongoing dispute with Richard, who was in a relationship with his mother. Witnesses told investigators that Da’Sean punched and beat Richard inside the apartment. The two were later seen getting into a truck, and a single gunshot was heard shortly after, according to witness statements.

Da’Sean’s mother, Coshelia Conley, 36, and her mother, Cathy Conley, 55, were also arrested and charged in the case. Both have been indicted on an obstruction of justice charge.

All four are scheduled to appear in court for a motion hearing on June 23.
