Cookie blamed after minivan crash in Fresno

FRESNO, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – A person who was eating a cookie behind the wheel crashed into a bus stop after they started choking on it Wednesday afternoon, the Fresno Police Department said.

Officers say they responded to a vehicle that crashed into a bus stop at Shaw and Valentine avenues in Fresno around 3:15 p.m.

Investigators say the driver of the vehicle was traveling with two children eastbound on Shaw Avenue at Valentine Avenue while eating a cookie. The driver then started to choke on the cookie and ended up losing control of the vehicle.

Officers say the vehicle then went up the curb and crashed into a bus stop near an IHOP. No one was waiting at the bus stop at the time and no injuries were reported following the incident.
