On January 8, officers were patrolling the Orton Keyes Housing Complex, near the 600 block of Score Street, looking for a suspect involved in a shooting that had happened the day before.
Authorities saw a black Ford Fusion without a front license plate while patrolling, which was shown in video surveillance of the shooting.
When the driver and passenger gave police their identification, Davison put the car in drive and started to flee the scene. An official opened the driver’s side door in an attempt to stop the car, but was pinned in between as the suspect continued to drive, according to court records.
The officer said they were able to move and prevent any injuries.
The suspect was later taken into custody and booked into the Winnebago County Jail on April 15th.
Davison is a convicted felon who stole a Hyundai in 2022, according to court records.
Davison is charged with aggravated fleeing, aggravated battery of an officer, aggravated battery while using a deadly weapon and resisting an officer.
