Police say the men identified as Paul Dupuy IV and Adam Anglin were in the 200 block of East 70th on Sunday, just after 3 p.m., when patrol officers saw them cutting copper wiring from a utility pole in a nearby alleyway. The suspects were dressed similarly to city workers and driving “a beat-up vehicle”.
The men allegedly told officers they were contractors hired through a third party and authorized to remove and recycle the copper. Police say they provided a name but no verifiable contact information to the person with whom they were contracted.
When officers searched the vehicle, they say they found ropes, utility gloves, cutting tools, and suspected narcotics and drug paraphernalia along with more than 100 feet of copper wire valued at more than $1000 and cut into “transportable pieces.”
The men were booked into Shreveport City Jail.
