Man hit, killed while walking on train tracks in Abilene

The incident happened on the tracks near S 1st Street and Shelton Street just after 1:00 p.m.

Witnesses say they saw a man walking on the tracks with headphones on get hit by a train that came from behind him.

“The victim appeared to have been unaware of the approaching train due to wearing headphones/earbuds,” police explained.

Police have identified the victim as 37-year-old Timothy Delgado of Levelland, Texas.

Authorities want to remind the public that walking along the tracks is dangerous and prohibited.

The death investigation is ongoing, and no further information is available at this time.
