Officials with Cullman County EMA stated the crash happened around 7 a.m. in the area of Miller Bottom.
A Major League Fishing (MLF) tournament is currently taking place on Smith Lake, and MLF confirmed to CBS 42 sister station WHNT the crash involved one of the competing anglers, Flint Davis of Leesburg, Georgia.
Cullman County Coroner Jeremy Kilpatrick confirmed one person is dead.
“Out of respect for those involved, and to ensure the accuracy of all information, no further details will be released at this time. MLF is working closely with law enforcement and emergency officials. Additional updates will be provided as they are confirmed by the appropriate authorities,” MLF released.
There is no word on the number of people injured or the extent of any other injuries at this time.
The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency is investigating the crash and will provide additional information at a later time.

Major League Fishing (MLF) confirms that a serious boating accident occurred this morning on Lewis Smith Lake during Day 2 of the Tackle Warehouse Invitational. The incident involved one of the event’s competing anglers, Flint Davis of Leesburg, Georgia.
Emergency personnel and local authorities responded immediately and remain on scene managing the situation.
