CULLMAN, Ala. (WHNT) — A Major League Fishing pro angler has been indicted on multiple charges, including manslaughter and assault, in a multi-boat crash that killed three on Lewis Smith Lake in Cullman County in April.

Officials with Cullman County EMA said the crash happened around 7:07 a.m. in the area of Burr’s Island outside of Miller Bottom on April 16. The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency identified Flint Davis of Leesburg, Georgia, as the operator of a nitro bass boat involved.

On Thursday, Davis was indicted on three counts of manslaughter, two counts of first-degree assault, reckless operation of a vehicle/vessel, failure to follow boating rules of the road and boating without a boater safety certification.

The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency identified two of the victims in the crash as 44-year-old John K. Clark, of Cullman, and 62-year-old Jeffrey C. Little, of Brandon, Mississippi. The agency said they were thrown overboard from the Center Console vessel they were in and drowned. Their bodies were recovered near the Miller Flats area of Smith Lake in Cullman County.

ALEA said the crash also killed 58-year-old Joey Broom when he was hit by the Nitro Bass Boat. Broom was pronounced dead on the scene.
