LPSS names two new principals for the 2025-2026 school year

LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) — The Lafayette Parish School Board (LPSS) proudly announced two new appointed principals, Tia Trahan and Donovan Soileau, who will take office in the 2025-2026 school year.

Tia Trahan has been appointed as the new principal of Paul Breaux Middle School. Trahan currently serves as principal of Lafayette Middle School and was named the 2024 Louisiana Overall Principal of the Year. With over 20 years in public education, Trahan looks forward to a new future at Paul Breaux.

“Becoming the principal of Paul Breaux Middle School is more than a new chapter—it feels like coming to a place rooted in purpose, pride, and promise.” Trahan said. “Paul Breaux is not just a school; it’s a community cornerstone with a rich history and legacy that I deeply respect and look forward to honoring. There’s an invisible thread that ties the past to the present and stretches forward into our future—and I am committed to nurturing that connection while maximizing the potential of every student and adult of the Paul Breaux Family.”

Donovan Soileau has been appointed the new principal of Ridge Elementary School. Mr. Soileau will replace Rhonda Dickerson, who was recently named Chief of Elementary Schools for LPSS. Mr. Soileau brings more than a decade of experience in education, having served the past two years as Assistant Principal at Ridge Elementary.

As a dedicated educator and leader, Soileau looks forward to the continued success of Ridge Elementary under his leadership.

“I am truly honored and excited to lead Ridge Elementary School as principal,” said Mr. Soileau. “I am dedicated to supporting the students, staff, and families here at Ridge. From the moment I joined this school as a young educator, I knew Ridge was a special place. I look forward to continuing our journey toward excellence and building on the strong foundation already in place.”

LPSS welcomes Soileau and Trahan into their new roles and looks forward to the success they will bring to their campuses and communities.
