K-9 captures sex offender after GPS tracking device tampering incident

JANESVILLE, Wis. (WTVO) — A Janesville sex offender, who police say removed his GPS tracking device, was hunted down by a K-9 and captured on Tuesday night.

Around 7:08 p.m., police were alerted that Bryan Kind, 39, had tampered with his GPS ankle bracelet, which was a condition of his release on a 2017 child pornography conviction.

Officers responded to the area and formed a perimeter at the location where the GPS device was last located.

A police K-9 was brought in to assist with the search and located Kind hiding in the tall grass in the 600 block of N. Parker Drive.

Police said Kind ran and was chased down and caught by the K-9. He was taken to a hospital for treatment and then taken into custody at the Rock County Jail.

Kind faces charges of Tampering with a GPS, Resisting Arrest, Possesion of Drug Paraphernalia, and a Parole Violation.
