LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY)– A woman pays it forward with one thousand dollars to her friend.

Each month, KLFY partners with Bob Giles from Giles Automotive for ‘Pay it Forward,’ giving someone in Acadiana the opportunity to gift someone they know an envelope of cash.

News Ten and Giles Automotive approached Adrianne Spain with one thousand dollars.

“Are you serious,” Spain said. “Ahhhh, it would be me, huh?”

Spain chose to pay it forward to her friend, Kathryn Grace.

“She’s like a mentor to me,” Spain said. “She motivates me to be a better mom because she’s older and she has more experience.”

Spain said she values the ‘boy mom’ advice from Kathryn and their friendship that started when Kathryn was on a date at the same restaurant Adrianne was at.

“Me and her ended up talking, and then she left the date,” Spain said. “Me and her stayed, and we kept talking.”

Spain laughed.

When we went surprise Kathryn, she was in a work Zoom call.

When she answered the door, Kathryn said, “I have to get back on my Zoom meeting.”

However, she stayed at the door to hear what we were surprising her for.

Spain handed her the envelope.

“I got you,” Spain said. “I got you.”

Kathryn said she plans to use the money to pay her bills.

“Take care of life a little bit right now,” Kathryn said.

This filled a need for Kathryn that only her friend, Adrianne, would have known about.

“I thought about you,” Spain said. “We had a good talk Monday, and I was like, I know who to call.”
