Forecast: Breezy, increasing clouds, spot showers after midnight

Expect breezy conditions and increasing clouds in the remainder of Monday. There may be some spot showers after midnight.

A weak disturbance behind a cold frontal passage may result in a spotty shower early Tuesday morning along with gusty northwest winds and extensive cloud cover.

Precipitation should exit quickly and cloud cover will diminish, allowing mixed sunshine to emerge in the afternoon. Temperatures, however, will be much cooler than recent days, only peaking in the lower 50s, a level significantly cooler than Monday.

TUESDAY NIGHT: Clearing and colder with initially gusty winds diminishing overnight. Upper 20s at normally colder outlying areas. Low: 34.

Relatively quiet conditions will persist until later this week when a storm system turns winds southerly, pumping in much warmer air and also bringing a renewed threat for showers and thunderstorms, including the potential for severe weather on Friday.

Rainfall varies when thunderstorms are in the mix, but the potential exists for some areas to receive some appreciable totals.

Progressive pattern introduces several troughs (shaded in blue) over the next 10 days, mainly originating out of Canada. But, towards the end of the month, the pattern slows down with more ridging over the Eastern U.S. which equates to above normal warmth.
