April marks 40 years since federal and state law-enforcement officials carried out a three-day seige in the Twin Lakes Area of a compound occupied by the Covenant, the Sword and the Arm of the Lord (CSA), labeled by Wikipedia as a “far-right survivalist anti-government militia which advocated Christian Identity.” On Saturday, former KTLO, Classic Hits and The Boot News Director Jim Bodenhamer will be the special guest on this week’s edition of Retracing Our Roots as he recalls the time he spent covering the incident.
At the time, the CSA had a compound located in a remote area north of Oakland. Bodenhamer says he was first introduced to the group during a court hearing in Yellville.

Bodenhamer received information months later that over 300 law-enforcement personnel were gathering in the area of compound, and he went up to the area to cover the incident. He started broadcasting on the second day of the negotiations. The third day was when the seige occurred, and members of the CSA were taken into custody.

Bodenhamer says another memory he has of the CSA was when their No. 2 leader, Kerry Noble, held a press conference at the Baxter Bulletin after he was taken into custody.
