It was May 26 last year when the area was hit by a round of tornadoes that did significant damage. In Baxter County, the Briarcliff and Hand Cove areas were the hardest hit. Stults says they are still awaiting funding from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) for that disaster.

Earlier this week, Stults, in an interview on KTLO, Classic Hits and The Boot, said crews from the county, cities and the state are working on the roads in the area, but due to the major damage from the flooding, it may take some time to repair all of the damage done from the recent flooding.
