Central Pennsylvania native will represent South Carolina in Mrs. America competition

LANCASTER COUNTY, Pa. (WHTM) — A central Pennsylvania native was crowned Mrs. South Carolina and will represent the state in the upcoming Mrs. America competition.

Julie Holmes is originally from Lancaster County, but she has lived in Indian Land, South Carolina since 2016.

She graduated from Hempfield High School in 2002, and her parents still live in the Centerville area.

Her and her husband Greg, have three children and own a company that replaces door and windows for residences. Julie is involved with the Ronald McDonald House and other charities, and her church.

“As Mrs. South Carolina, I want to serve as a strong voice and advocate for the Ronald McDonald
House, with a focus on increasing volunteer support across the organization,” Julie said in a statement. “Additionally, I aim to inspire and empower other women to embrace challenges- inside and outside of pageantry.”

The first Mrs. America was held in 1938, but it stopped in 1966, until it resumed in 1977. The competition honors and recognizes the accomplishments of married women in the United States.
