On Friday, April 10, Laurel County Sheriff John Root posted on social media asking for prayers for the Laurel Grocery Company’s staff in the wake of its closure.
“As a thriving business with over 100 years of history in our county, its closure has had a profound effect on the community, resulting in numerous job losses,” Root wrote. “Let us pray for the employees, that they may either enjoy a peaceful retirement or quickly find new employment opportunities to support themselves and their families.”
FOX 56 reached out to Laurel Grocery for comment but has not heard back.
