The Draper City Police Department said a hit-and-run occurred around 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, involving a dump truck that was reportedly driving with its lift raised. The truck hit a traffic signal, according to police.
“This resulted in three powered poles going down, causing a power outage in the vicinity….” police said in a press release.
According to social media posts from Draper City, traffic lights on 12300 South are down from 900 East to 265 West. Because of the outages, 12300 South is closed between 700 East and 900 East. Officials said the road is expected to remain closed, and power is expected to be restored at around midnight.
“Please avoid 12300 South through that area if possible. Use extreme caution if driving on 12300 South through intersections and watch for signal outages,” Draper City said.
The power for local residences or businesses is also expected to be restored at midnight, according to the city. City officials said they would provide more updates on the outages when new information is available.
