Shreveport Police Department warns public about phone scam

SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS)—The Shreveport Police Department is warning the public about a recent scam.

The department said it has been made aware of a scam in which individuals pretend to be officers and then call citizens. The scammers are using technology that allows them to hide their actual number and make it appear that the call is coming from the Shreveport Police Department.

The department emphasized that it will never solicit money or banking information over the phone. Residents are advised against sharing any personal or financial information with anyone claiming to be from law enforcement.

If you have received one of these calls or have any questions or concerns, please contact the Shreveport Police Department at (318) 673-7300.
