Second suspect accused in March stabbing death at Portland hotel

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A second suspect was arrested in connection to a deadly stabbing at an East Portland hotel last month.

On Wednesday, Anthony V. Staggs, 54, turned himself in after a warrant was put out for his arrest, Portland police said. He is accused of third-degree assault in connection to the stabbing homicide investigation.

On the morning of March 21, Drew Courtright was stabbed to death at a hotel near 11700 NE Airport Way, authorities said.

Mitch Schoonover, 42, was later arrested and accused of first-degree murder, unlawful use of a weapon and third-degree assault.

The case remains under investigation, Portland Police Bureau said.
