Fetterman using weight-loss drug, asks Trump Administration to expand coverage

(WHTM) — Senator John Fetterman (D-PA) revealed he’s using a weight loss drug and is now asking the Trump Administration to make it easier for others to use it too.

In a New York Times op-ed piece, the Senator says he was prescribed the drug called Mounjaro. He said he started taking it for his heart health, but it made a significant impact on his overall health.

The Trump Administration is not moving forward with former President Joe Biden’s proposed rule to expand Medicare and Medicaid coverage for the anti-obesity drug. In the op-ed, Fetterman is asking them to reverse course:

“Our government should be in the business of making lifesaving medication accessible and affordable,” wrote Fetterman. “Mr. Biden’s now-discarded rule is the type of common-sense solution that politicians in D.C. talk about all the time, but rarely actually make happen.”

Mounjaro is used to treat Type 2 diabetes.
