SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) –  Lakes and rivers in the ArkLaTex have been slowly rising after last week’s heavy rain.  Some have already started to fall while others will crest later this week.

Caddo Lake:  The NWS is forecasting a crest on Caddo Lake of 174 feet by Friday morning.  Flood stage is 172 feet.  This is expected to cause minor flooding.  Moderate flooding begins to occur when the lake reaches 174.5 feet. This forecast is the same as yesterday

Lake Bistineau:  The flood stage on Lake Bistineau is 142.5 feet.  The lake crested yesterday at 142.4 feet and is now slowly falling.

Red River:  The Red River is also on the rise, and a crest is expected at 29 feet Tuesday night in Shreveport.  Flood stage is 30 feet. (No change from yesterday,)

The river will crest near the flood stage of 31 feet at Coushatta on Wednesday evening (No change from yesterday.)

The Red is expected to exceed the flood stage further downstream in Natchitoches Parish at Grand Ecore.  Flood stage is 33 feet.  The river will crest at 34 feet Wednesday night. (No change from yesterday.)

Smaller rivers:  Flooding is also expected along the smaller rivers in the area.  In NW LA, flooding is looking likely along Bayou Dorcheat near Springhill. In SW AR, the Little River crested this weekend at Horatio and has fallen below flood stage.  In NE TX,  prepare for minor flooding along the Sulphur River near Talco, the Sabine River near Longview, and Black Cypress Bayou near Jefferson.

It still appears that lakes and rivers will have a chance to return to more normal levels in the next few weeks.  We will stay dry this week as our next chance of rain will arrive by the middle and end of next week.
