Grand Coteau’s recent audit report revealed 14 issues with the town’s finances. The audit showed the city suffered operational losses to gas, water and sewer funds in 2024. In addition, the report was not filed with the state’s legislative auditor in the required time frame.
Because of the report’s findings, residents were invited to a public meeting to share their concerns, however, discussions about the audit report were postponed.
“It wasn’t on the agenda, but the main reason why, is we don’t have the duty experts, we don’t have the auditor,” said Mayor Ricard.
He also says he wants people to be able to ask their questions and get the proper answers he feels an auditor can answer. Richard says he will let everyone know when the meeting where the report will be discussed will be set.
“As soon as we can get an auditor as soon as they’re available for the next general meeting, I’ll let everyone know it’s open to the public,” said Richard.
