CHICAGO — A 1-year-old boy was among four people injured in a crash on the city’s South Side.
The crash happened around 11:30 p.m. Tuesday on the 7100 block of South State Street in the Greater Grand Crossing neighborhood.
According to police, a silver sedan was traveling westbound on 71st Street and disregarded a red light striking a black Jeep, who was driving northbound on State Street.
Police confirm multiple injuries in the crash, which are:
- a 22-year-old man, driver of the silver sedan, was transported to St Bernard Hospital for observation.
- a 22-year-old man, passenger of the silver sedan, sustained a punctured lung and was transported to University of Chicago Hospital in serious condition.
- the driver of the black Jeep refused medical services.
- a 1-year-old boy, rear passenger of the black Jeep, was transported to Comer Children’s Hospital in good condition for an evaluation.
- a 22-year-old woman, front passenger of the black Jeep, sustained multiple injuries and was transported to University of Chicago Hospital in critical condition.
Police said a man was placed into custody and a weapon was recovered from the scene.
Major Accident Detectives are investigating. Charges are pending.
