The bottom line? More warm temperatures today with an increase in cloud coverage. The north shaves a few degrees today, but warmer temps quickly rebound by midweek, and then some.
Northern Utah temperatures will take a small step back due to a low-pressure system moving through Idaho, but the heart of the system will remain to the north. Southern Utah will stay warmer with valley highs in the low-70s, climbing to the mid-80s for the St. George area.
Northern Utah valleys will cool into the mid to upper 60s, which is still above average. By Wednesday, clouds will begin to clear, but northern temperatures will stay similar to Tuesday’s, again reaching the mid-60s. Meanwhile, southern valleys warm a few more degrees into the mid-70s while St. George reaches the mid-80s.
The storm system passing through Idaho will give us a little more moisture to work with, but still not a ton.
A few light showers may cross into Box Elder and Cache Counties along the Utah-Idaho border, but these will be brief sprinkles likely staying under 1/10 of an inch. While there won’t be enough moisture for significant precipitation in Utah, there will be enough for a notable increase in cloud cover. Expect a mix of sun and clouds in the south and mostly cloudy skies in the north.
Thursday will bring a temperature rebound for northern Utah, with highs topping out in the mid to upper 70s under mostly sunny skies., Southern Utah also continues to warm as St. George will likely hit its first 90-degree day of the season.
Friday will be the warmest day with highs 15-20 degrees above average, possibly more in some spots. The Wasatch Front could very easily hit 80 degrees while St. George hangs out in the low 90s. We could even come within a few degrees of record highs, but as of right now, the forecast keeps a couple of degrees shy.
The abnormally warm weather and dry pattern could give way by the end of the weekend, so enjoy the gorgeous weather!
