Illinois teen killed, sister injured in Boone County I-65 crash

BOONE COUNTY, Ind. – An Illinois teenager returning home from a spring break trip died in a devastating interstate crash in Boone County.

Jordan Laskowski was killed in the April 4 crash on northbound I-65 near mile marker 135 in Lebanon.

His 12-year-old sister was also ejected during the crash, according to a GoFundMe post.

The crash happened around 5:15 p.m. and closed all northbound and southbound lanes. Southbound reopened around 6:40 p.m. while northbound reopened around 7:15 p.m.

Laskowski was from St. Charles, Illinois. He was an avid sports fan who shared a love for the Dallas Cowboys with his father.

“I lost my best friend yesterday in a tragic accident,” his father, Scott Laskowski, posted on Facebook the day after the crash.

“I never got to say goodbye to my son,” he wrote. “I wish I could trade places with him.”

Laskowski’s father said he had been looking forward to seeing Jordan play high school football during the upcoming season.

“He was an amazing kid. Everything [was] just ripped away,” he wrote.

Laskowski was part of the STC Blue-Pony baseball team.

As the family mourns his loss, his 12-year-old sister faces a long road to recovery.

His grandmother, mother and youngest sister escaped injury. The crash remains under investigation.
