‘Who is the lucky winner?’: Illinois Mega Millions winner has not come forward to claim $349M jackpot

CORTLAND, Ill. — A $349 million Mega Millions jackpot remains unclaimed in Illinois.

The winning ticket was purchased at Casey’s General Store, located at 70 S. Somonauk Road in Cortland, for the March 25 drawing. 

The Illinois Lottery is waiting for the lucky ticket holder to claim their life-changing prize. 

Yet, the mystery remains—who is the lucky winner?

“It’s the talk of the town, and the store is still buzzing with excitement”, said Kim Shaw, Casey’s District Manager. “This is the biggest jackpot-winning ticket our store has ever sold. We’re thrilled for the winner, and selfishly, we hope it’s one of our regular customers—keeping the winnings in the community would make it even more special.”

For selling the winning ticket, Casey’s General Store will receive a cash bonus of $500,000. 

According to the Illinois Lottery, the winner has 12 months from the draw date to claim their prize.

To ensure their winnings are protected, the newly minted millionaire should: 

1. Sign the back of the ticket and keep it somewhere safe
2. Seek professional financial and legal advice
3. Call the Lottery Player Hotline at 1-800-252-1775 to arrange a private appointment to claim the prize

Lottery players will have another chance to win during Friday night’s drawing when the Mega Millions jackpot is an estimated $43 million.
