SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) — Each year in March, our parent company, Nexstar Media Group, celebrates Women’s History Month by highlighting remarkable women, and KTAL NBC 6 honors women making a difference in the Ark-La-Tex.

Hundreds of women were nominated, and local finalists were chosen, including Dr. Barbara Norton, Annalichia Boudreaux, Dr. Jaya McSharma, Emily Jo Manchester Sanden, and Lindsey Peters.

Mark McKay, KTAL General Manager, said, “This is one way of us giving back to the community and recognizing the women who have had such an influence not only on us as individuals but on the community.”

This year’s winner was Emily Jo Manchester Sanden with the Renesting Project. Her charity received $1,000 from KTAL/KMSS and $1,000 from Live Casino and Hotel. She will also receive an all-expense-paid trip to Los Angeles for a chance to become the national Remarkable Woman of the year.

Emily said, “That money is going to mean so much for renesting, I really, I suffer a lot from imposter syndrome and feeling like I’m not doing enough or not good enough and so to get this recognition it feels a little unreal, I feel like it will maybe hit me later, later tonight and I’ll cry a lot. ”

Tune in to The CW Network for the one-hour “Remarkable Women” special on Sunday, April 20, 2025, at 8 p.m. central and find out who the national winner will be.
