Three tornadoes touch down in Mississippi on March 31

PEARL, Miss. (WJTV) – The Mississippi Emergency Management Agency (MEMA) is assessing the damage caused by the severe weather that occurred March 30-31, 2025.

The National Weather Service (NWS) confirmed that three tornadoes touched down in Mississippi on March 31. Among these tornadoes was one EF-2 tornado that affected Lamar County and Marion County, as well as two tornadoes in Lowndes County – one rated EF-1 and the other rated EF-0.

To date, the agency has received damage reports to 24 homes and two farms across the state.

The following counties have submitted official damage reports to MEMA:

  • Jackson – 5 homes
  • Lamar – 15 homes, 2 farms
  • Marion – 4 homes

MEMA encourages residents who’ve sustained damage from this severe weather event to do the following:

  • File an insurance claim.
  • Take photos of the damage to the home.
  • Report damage to their county/MEMA via the self-report tool.
